Two women and two ways of inhabiting the sea
The film tells the stories of Ilka Paulentz, a fisherwoman and tsunami survivor from Robinson Crusoe Island, and Bárbara Hernández, a ice-water swimming world champion who completed a double crossing of the Catalina Channel and became the second woman and fourth person in history to achieve the Double Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming. Through their lives, the film explores two opposing ways of inhabiting and relating to water in a story that navigates between freedom, challenge, pleasure, and danger.
The Q&A panel will offer an opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the creative process behind the film, as well as the motivations and inquiries that led Bloj to discover and portray these two extraordinary women and their connection to the sea.
"Through two human stories, we can discover a love for the sea, alongside the determination and courage of these two women to accomplish something truly spectacular, such as swimming these distances (...) people interested in the ocean can connect with these human stories through this film”, reflects Rosenblatt.
The event will take place at Marchant Pereira 10, 2nd floor, Providencia.Capacity is limited and requires prior registration via the santiago.udec.cl website or the Welcu link. Attendees are advised to arrive fifteen minutes prior to the start of the screening.
