Technology Transfer
The Millennium Institute of Oceanography promotes technology transfer based on its own lines of research, connecting deep ocean science with technological development, innovation and the generation of new solutions.
Underwater robotics
We develop technologies for deep ocean observation, especially low-cost lander platforms capable of carrying sensors, recording data, and conducting experiments autonomously on the seabed.
Submarine cables
We explored the use of fiber optic cables as infrastructure for ocean observation, including applications for monitoring earthquakes, waves, vessels, and other underwater phenomena.
Innovation and collaboration
We seek to establish alliances with companies, public institutions, and research centers, as well as to promote collaborations, joint projects, and potential spin-offs. Our goal is for deep-sea oceanographic research to act as an engine for technological development, innovation, and capacity building with scientific, public, and productive impact.
